TALK - REFERRAL PROCESS
-
Anyone, aged
18-years or over, can refer themselves in for counselling, preferably
by telephone, or email.
-
If you wish
to make a referral on behalf of someone else, it must
be with their full knowledge and agreement.
-
Occupational
Health Services, and G P Surgeries, can make referrals.
-
Following
initial contact, you will be invited to attend for an assessment,
during which the counsellor can discuss with you what you want to
achieve from the sessions. There
will be a charge for this session.
-
This first
meeting also gives you the opportunity to make up your mind if you
want to work with the counsellor.
Acceptance for counselling is therefore dependent on BOTH
parties agreeing to work together.
SESSIONS, LENGTH, AND FREQUENCY
-
All sessions
are face-to-face, on a one-to-one basis, with the same counsellor.
-
Sessions will
normally last between 50 – 60 minutes.
-
Sessions will
be weekly, either for a set number of sessions (5) if working short
term, or open-ended for more long term work.
